Beans, Beans the Magical Fruit…

For about 2 weeks now, Emma has been working on her eating skills.  We’ve been feeding her rice cereal.   She sometimes enjoys it, sometimes despises it.  Its a good practice food.

My sister told me that Rice Cereal has no flavor or nutrition to it.  I can only imagine she knows this because she’s tried some (yech).  But she did give us a great piece of advice: When it comes time to feed her foods, save the yummy sweet ones for last, or she’ll never try the yucky ones.

So we started with what both looked and sounded like the most disgusting of the stage 1 foods: Green Beans.

To not intimidate Emma with the concepts of food with color, flavor and nutrition (still no texture, though), Noel served the Green Beans along with some Rice Cereal.

Emma seemed to REALLY enjoy the Green Beans!  She ate more than she typically does from the spoon.  And, for the next hour after her meal, she sat in her high chair just squealing with delight.  She’s never really done that before.

Up next… squash, zuccini or some other vegetable that both looks, sounds (and probably tastes) disgusting!  Yummy!

(Photos of the Green Bean meal will be posted in our web album sometime this weekend)

First blog post in a LONG time.   I was inspired by my sister, who just updated her blog for the 1st time in forever, too. Check out the link to our Online Photo Album for recent photos of the baby!  I’ve moved most of my live updates to Facebook and (to a MUCH lesser extent) Twitter.  Please feel free to look me up on either site, and request the connection.   I’m also now on LinkedIn, too.

Saint Cloud’s Centennial Baby

Our daughter Emma was named the Centennial Baby of Saint Cloud, Florida!  Our hometown is celebrating its Centennial this April, and held a contest to find the first baby born this year.

As the winner, Emma wins a $250 US Savings Bond and is entered into the official public record as the ‘Saint Cloud Centennial Baby!’  Pretty neat stuff.   Much better than anything in my baby book, that’s for sure!

There’s a link to the video segment which appeared on the Local News, as well!  I’ll try and figure out how to post that here later.
